Style Guide

Six ways to finish the bookcase.

Start with the architecture of the room. Slab and Shaker suit cleaner interiors; profiled Flat Panel and Raised Panel styles add traditional detail; Mirror doors create a decorative reflective surface.

A smooth, flat door without raised, recessed, or contoured detailing. Slab doors create the simplest visual treatment and are easy to integrate into modern rooms.

Quick Decision

Choose by the feeling you want.

Profile details become more visible after painting or staining. Consider the cabinet doors together with the bookcase trim, wood species, and surrounding cabinetry.

1

Clean and modern

Choose Slab for the flattest face or Shaker for simple structure without decorative profiling.

2

Classic and detailed

Choose Flat Panel for restrained detail, Raised Panel for dimension, or Arched Top for a custom architectural feature.

3

Decorative and reflective

Choose Mirror cabinet doors when you want the fronts to reflect light and behave as a decorative element.

Ordering

Add cabinet doors while configuring the hidden door.

Common Questions

Before selecting cabinet doors

Are cabinet doors included with a standard bookcase door?

Cabinet doors are optional add-ons. Select them on the eligible hidden-door order form when you want enclosed upper shelving, lower shelving, or both.

What is the difference between Flat Panel and Shaker?

Both use a flat recessed center panel. Shaker has square, plain framing without profiling; Flat Panel includes decorative edge profiles around the frame for a more detailed appearance.

What is the difference between Slab and Flat Panel?

A Slab door is a single flat face without a framed or recessed center. Flat Panel has a distinct outer frame, decorative edge treatment, and flat recessed center panel.

Can Arched Top cabinet doors be selected online?

Arched Top is not a standard checkout option. Contact Hide-A-Way Doors before ordering so the design and availability can be confirmed.

Will the cabinet doors match the rest of my hidden door?

They are made in-house to coordinate with the selected configuration. Natural wood grain and color still vary, especially between solid-wood frames and panel materials.

Are all six styles available on every hidden door?

No. Available styles and upper or lower configurations depend on the product. Use the options shown on the specific order form or ask a specialist before ordering.
